Hall Of Fame

The AQHA Hall of Fame is an initiative by the Australian Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) honouring people and horses who have made significant contributions to the Australian Quarter Horse industry. Induction into the AQHA Hall of Fame is one of the highest honours bestowed by the Australian Quarter Horse Association.

The following categories for nomination into the Australian Quarter Horse Associations Hall of Fame.

HERITAGE (Prior to 1989)

HORSES: Those individuals who promoted the AQHA as a Sire or Dam and had a continued influence through their bloodlines and progeny, representing and promoting the breed/AQHA in their chosen fields.

·         Heritage Hall of Fame Performance Horse

·         Heritage Hall of Fame Performance Stallion

·         Heritage Hall of Fame Performance Mare; &

·         Heritage Hall of Fame Performance Gelding

PEOPLE: For owners, breeders, competitors, or members who have promoted the AQHA contributing to the outstanding reputation that the Association carries today.

MODERN ERA (post 1990)

HORSES: As a Sire or Dam, has become a "breed shaper" for the AQHA. These horses can be rated easily by their progeny's results & performance across the many disciplines that we recognise, or as a competition horse have performed and/or promoted Australian Quarter Horses in a superior way.

·         Hall of Fame Stallion

·         Hall of Fame Mare; &

·         Hall of Fame Gelding

PEOPLE: Those recognised for their promotion of the AQHA in what we class as the Modern Era. They may be a breeder, competitor or a stud owner who has successfully bred, and/or shown horses or one who has served the AQHA in such a way as to have the Association recognised as it is today. N.B. A current director of the AQHA, whilst they are on the Board is not eligible for Hall of Fame nomination.

When nominating, it is pertinent to include as much information as possible about the person and horse including personal knowledge of the Nominee’s related background, activities & accomplishments are essential for an effective review.

Nominations close 5pm, 15th January each year

The Hall of Fame subcommittee then meet to discuss the nominations & present them to the June Board meeting for ratification. Invitations are then sent our AQHA Annual Awards night in October, where presentations are made.
